We are excited to announce that Jeevan Patra is the winner of the BioSolveIT Scientific Challenge Fall 2023. Patra’s research targets Falcipain, a key enzyme in malaria, by identifying selective inhibitors from the Malaria Box, a collection of potent antimalarial candidates by the Medicines for Malaria Venture, Switzerland.
With rising global temperatures and increased travel, malaria is becoming a potential threat to the Western world, making this research highly relevant. Patra’s innovative use of BioSolveIT tools to optimize compound properties could play a crucial role in combating malaria’s spread and resistance.
